ABOUT
informed by LOVE OF CRAFT
Working on, living in, and traveling by Sailboats has been my life’s passion
I got my start in the marine industry working at a sailing club as a teenager. Over the years, I’ve worked as a boatyard tech, project manager, boatbuilder, freelance shipwright, and now marine surveyor. My focus has always been on yachts and small craft, and specifically, cruising boats.
I remain fascinated by marine construction and systems. If it’s on a cruising boat I’ve either designed, installed, or repaired it – everything from major structural work, engine installations, tankage, electrical, plumbing, rig work, cruising systems, you name it.
In addition to my professional work on boats, I’ve spent the majority of my life living on and sailing my own boats. Whether racing or cruising, I love being on the water. For the past 4 years I’ve been cruising my Kelly Peterson 44 Dogfish, starting in the San Francisco Bay Area and now around Mexico.
Over my 15 years in the industry and in owning my own boats, I have extensive practical experience in what works and what doesn’t, over a large range of vessels and scenarios. I’ve seen what matters, when, and why. Most of all, I’ve seen how critical good information is to making good decisions.
As a marine surveyor, delivering good information is my business.
